why so homophobic?

Many of you probably know of the discrimination caused by the fear and hatred of homosexuals. Its something that happens alot at my school St.Mary. This is an issue (homophobia) that should not be happening at a k-8 school, and defiantly not in the church! Now some of you maybe wondering, “hey, how did the church get involved?” The answer is this, im proud to say that there are a few churches in Saskatoon that are fine with gay and lesbians, but there are also a number of churches that go, “ugh, what up with that?” That is SICK! I mean, what is wrong with gay and lesbians?! The correct answer is nothing! What do you readers think of the whole thing?

    Hey there Christopher,
I’m so very proud of you for standing up for what you believe in. Yeah, its hard to understand why there is still homophobia anywhere in our society … church, school, anywhere. Let’s keep fighting the good fight until all are free and equal!!!
    Love,

YAHHHHHEEE I’m with you both. Love is Love & shouldn’t be confined to any sex. Where is it written that we can’t give our heart, our love, to another human being? peace Jacquee

How love is expressed is a personal choice & shouldn’t be judged by any one of us. LOVE IS LOVE however it manifests itself. peace Jacquee

We did get a little feedback, for the most part asking what affirming meant! But I think that we (as the anglican church) are almost ready to change

It is hard to understand why people who claim to follow Jesus care more about who people love rather than why there is hate! I am standing with you, Spirit Son!

I know! I mean, if they’re trying to follow christ and a loving god the least they can do is try to love everyone. Thanks for standing with me!

I often wonder how people who claim to live ‘christian’ lives carry such un-christian attitudes (baggage) along with them. An opening of our hearts & minds to the diversity of ‘human nature’ along with ‘groundedness’ seems to be a step in a good direction. peace J

  11. Well, Christopher,
I understand from your aunt that you are only 10 years old. I am extremely impressed with your views on the world and the environment and the issues of equality and dignity for gays and lesbians. Let’s face it, hatred is hatred no matter where it is directed. I think it is time that the world gets a grip and stops just tolerating differences, but appreciating them.

Thanks Trent, I am glad to know that my view is appreciated, even though i’m only ten!You are defiantly right in saying we, as humans, should stop hating what we don’t understand or are afraid of. Thanks again for commenting!

I am so very proud of you Crowhire for standing in your own truth against fear of the unacceptable in our societies. Gay/lesbian are just labels of fear & not of love. Love comes from the heart & loving another human being is the best that we can share. peace J
